RELIGION AND BAD GOVERNANCE: THE HOLY CONSPIRACY

I watched with amusement yesterday on AIT as Gov. Nyesom Wike went to a church and was given the opportunity to lambast those who wanted to destroy the PDP. In a similar outing, Anambra Guber Candidate, Obiora Okonkwo of ZLP was at Ebube Muonso's church for Thanksgiving after a "successful" election outing that he had zero chances of winning. The officiating priest coincidentally, was the same Fr. Obimma that made a case for Andy Ubah few days to the election after we all thought that IPOB sit at home will give him victory, but IPOB positively disappointed us.

In a similar show of shame, the Anambra Governor, Willy Obiano was in a church recently, speaking and rewarding a woman who rejected money to vote for her conscience. That's a governor who firmly superintended over the clear vote buying by APGA which we seem not to have any problem with, after all, APGA candidate was better than others.

You see, while I do not have any problem with religion and will remain a child of God, it's becoming too obvious that religious leaders and bad leaders in Nigeria are in a business of SCRATCH MY BACK AND I WILL SCRATCH YOURS.

You understand that over 90% of worshippers in Nigeria are in for only miracles. They want things from God. These things they want from God are mere basics that governments in developed societies provide for their citizens.

They want healing(healthcare), school fees (education fund), house rents (housing), employment, riches, daily bread and then the one that tops the chart, husband and wives which is direct effect of bad economy as young men who can't feed well have no business with marriages, thereby creating husband scarcity.

You see, because we have no good roads and vehicles that are not road worthy, we need to go to men of God to mix prayers for us. Because we can't secure our country effectively, we need to consult Dibias to mix odeshi for us.
Because we don't have enough Universities and Vocational Institutions, we need to pray and fast to gain ordinary admission into the University.
Because we don't have good teachers and the ones we have don't have the needed environment to teach, we need to soak ourselves in prayers while writing exams. We have to pray against missing scripts and for the lecturer to be in good mental condition while marking, and sometimes pray that we won't be caught with our "mgbo".

You see, in Nigeria, we pray for EVERYTHING because in reality, we have nothing.

Then the religious leaders whom we go to for them to mix these prayers for us are also paddy paddy with the politicians who could have solved all these problems.

The relationship is just like the doctor that treats you of Malaria being best friends with Mosquitoes. Don't you think it's a combined business?

The politicians make life unbearable for the citizens to create clients for religious leaders who will attend their churches and patronise them.
In return, the religious leaders calm the citizens down for the politicians and prevent them from revolting, urging them to resort to prayers instead, to obey constituted authority and reminding them that all powers come from God. So if power comes from God, who are you to fight whom God has given power.

Therefore, instead of joining politics, working for better candidates that will lead well, instead of revolting and rejecting bad governance, instead of demanding for what we deserve, we now down our heads and PRAY FOR NIGERIA IN DISTRESS.
